When in Rome...

This weekend Katya and Greg visited with Baby Adelaide! Before they got here, Kyle and I went to the farmers' market on Saturday morning, and WOW! This town may not have a hopping night life, but they sure know how to do a farmers' market. So we took advantage of it and bought a watermelon, maple syrup, 3 zucchinis, tomatoes, 4 ears of corn, 2 pounds of hamburger patties, strawberry bread, and lava cakes. Basically, the only reason we stopped buying things was because the stroller was full, and our hands were full, and we had to carry this stuff home. We also swung by the coffee shop on our way back and bought some little pizzas for lunch, which we had when Katya, Greg, and Adelaide arrived shortly thereafter. In the afternoon we played with the babies (Everett loves his cousin!) and then made bacon cheeseburgers for dinner, with corn on the cob and watermelon (almost all locally grown, except the buns, cheese, and bacon). On Sunday after breakfast we went to the Fort Wayne Zoo, which was pretty respectable for a miniature city. When we got home we cooked our chicken from the farm with potatoes and zucchini, which was a pretty fancy meal for the four of us. All in all, it was a good weekend of hanging out, visiting, and exploring local attractions. Somehow none of us managed to take any pictures of anything...we'll have to improve next time.

Everett's daycare situation is going much better this week, and when I picked him up today he was sitting outside playing in the sandbox with his teacher, and was in no hurry to leave. She said he only fussed today when he dropped his cookie during snack (poor thing, I'm sure it broke his little heart), but she gave him another one. I also heard that he tried finger painting today, and that he was hesitant to do it at first, but soon decided he loved it! What a relief to know that he's having a good time!
