Sunday Family Fun

Today we had a great family day and some nice warmer weather! We went to Firehouse Subs for lunch, which was quite a treat and maybe our new favorite sandwich shop. Everett got a cool fire chief hat (see below), and although he didn't like it at first, he quickly caught on after I put it on and showed him how cool it was. My favorite part was the drink machine which included flavored varieties of all the major pop brands--we had vanilla root beer. Then we went to Fox Island (the Fort Wayne version of Cincinnati Nature Center) to hike for a little while, and Everett had a ball. He's a "big boy" now, so he likes to walk by himself, and actually got quite angry when we picked him up a few times to avoid low branches or muddy spots. He enjoyed picking up leaves and playing with sticks, but he did get tired eventually and rode on Dad's shoulders back to the car. Fox Island also gets train traffic (3 while we were there) to the North and air traffic overhead, so my boys were quite happy to see the "choo-choos" and "CRJ200." We probably only hiked about a mile, but it was really nice to get some fresh air and let Everett explore a little bit. We can't wait until spring!
